A call has gone to Imo women to be peaceful, united and be their sisters keepers, while shunning all acts of backbiting, pull ‘her’ down syndrome and character assassination. This call was made by the wife of Imo State Governor, Barr Chioma Uzodimma while addressing members of the Noble Ladies for Hope who paid her a courtesy visit in her office.
In a Press Release from the Office of Her Excellency through the Ministry of Gender and Vulnerable Group, the Imo First Lady stressed the need for women to support their fellow women in all life endeavours, including political aspirations which she said will make it possible for them to attain greater heights. She said she has always been an advocate of women supporting their fellow women.
Imo First Lady, praised the noble ladies for their outstanding qualities and thanked them for their support to her husband which they have sustained, assuring them that the governor will continue to carry everyone along in the scheme of things.
Speaking, wife of the the Deputy Governor, Dr. Mrs Bola Njoku commended the noble ladies for their dexterity and doggedness in their support for the governor which she said, reflected in the past election. She pointed out that the governor’s wife has passion for the transformation of the state and expressed optimism that the prosperity government, led by Senator Hope Uzodimma will turn things around for better in the state.
Other wives of top government appointees who were present at the meeting include; wife of Secretary to the State Government, wife of the Chief of Staff, and former member of Imo State House of Assembly, who is now Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategic Planning, Hon. Mrs Pat Ngozi Ekeji, former Commissioner for Women Affairs in the state, Dr Julie Onyeukwu. Ekeji and Onyeukwu, Hon. Commissioner for Gender, and the SA to her Excellency Aisha Buhari, etc are also members of Noble ladies.
Earlier in their address, read by the President of the association, Chief Mrs Cheryl Amonu, said they embarked on the visit to welcome back the governor’s wife and reassure her of their solidarity and to thank her for always standing by them.
She disclosed that the organization is made up of seasoned professionals in different fields of human endeavours, a group of technocrats drawn from the 27 LGAs of the state who she said came together at the heat of the campaigns for the 2019 election, to rally support for the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.
They appreciated the governor for recognizing women in his government and entrusting them with positions of public importance. They promised their commitment towards the success of the the prosperity government which they said has performed creditably well within few months of coming onboard.
