Excitement and jubilation took the center stage in Umuawuchi community in Ihitte/Uboma LGA as inhabitants poured encomiums on Governor Okorocha for providing them with asphalted motorable road for the first time.
Receiving the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr. Mark Uchendu who was on an inspection tour of the 2km road in the community, beautifully constructed and asphalted Eze Cyril Okafor of Umuawuchi said they were overwhelmed with Governor Okorocha’s gesture, stressing that they now have access link with neighbouring communities.
Eze Okafor expressed gratitude to governor Okorocha and the Commissioner, adding that the people will always support all government activities.
He however decried the action of the former speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Ben Uwajumogu whom he accused of misappropriating funds meant for the roads in Ihitte/Uboma LGA, stressing that many communities in Ihitte/Uboma are now enjoying dividends of democracy since Governor Okorocha appointed Engr. Uchendu as a Commissioner.
Speaking, Engr. Uchendu thanked the community for appreciating the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and told them not to relent in their support for him, stressing that every community in Ihitte/Uboma has benefitted from the Rescue Mission Administration.
A youth leader in the community, Mr. Fidelis Odire thanked the Governor and Engr. Uchendu and promised that youths in the community would continue to identify themselves with the Governor.
A former Councillor, John Okoroafor thanked the Governor for the road and gave assurance that each vote from the community would be for the governor and his men.
A woman leader in the area, Mrs. Grace Azubuike expressed delight that it was the first time the community was enjoying asphalted motorable road and assured that the women would always rally round the governor.
