Super Falcons of Nigeria on Monday defeated Togo by three goals to one in the last group B match of the on-going West Africa Football Union WAFU Cup of Nations holding in Ivory Coast.
The team topped the group with nine points after winning all its group games. It defeated Mali one-zero in the opening match and thrashed Senegal three zero in the second game.
Sports Correspondent, John Nwaogu reports that Nigeria will now battle Ghana which finished second in group A in the semi-finals on Thursday.
Host, Ivory Coast will engage Mali in the second semi-final clash.
Meanwhile, Victor Moses has won the Nigeria Football Federation Best Player of the year 2017 award.
The award ceremony was held in Lagos on Monday.
The Best Player of the Year award for women went to Asisat Oshoala, while Kennedy Boboye was named the Coach of the year for men football, just as Ann Chiejine picked the award for women football.
Sports TV Station of the year award was won by Channels Television.
In a related development, Akwa United will tomorrow slug it out with Banjul Hawks of Gambia in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary game in Gambia.
Akwa United lost the first leg match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo by two goals to one last week.
In Athletics; the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, has selected thirty-seven Athletes that will represent the country at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
The Athletes are made up of twenty female and seventeen males.
Defending Champion in the long jump of the Commonwealth games, Ese Brume did not make the list of Athletes for the games.
