Government says it has decided to rebuild all markets in the State and provide them with social and modern facilities.
The Commissioner for Non-formal Sector and Market Development, Mrs. Joy Mbawuike said this while performing the foundation stone laying and groundbreaking ceremony of Afor-Iro market in Ideato North Local Government area.
Mrs. Mbawuike commended the traders and people of Ideato North for cooperating with the state government toward the realization of its Market Development Policy.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Ideato North, Chief Onwuka and the President General of the community, Mr. Francis Okpara, urged the Commissioner to ensure that all the traders in the market were factored in the allocation of shops when completed.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Non-Formal Sector and Market Development, Mrs. Joy Mbawuike has laid the foundation of Orie-Okporo Market in Orlu Local government area.
She said the reconstruction of the market was in line with Governor Okorocha’s policy of reconstructing all markets in the State and promised timely completion of the project.
An indigene of the area, Mr. Val Ejindu expressed his delight over the reconstruction of the market to a modern standard and pledged support for its successful completion.
