The Transition Committee Chairmen of the local governments in the State are mandated to constitute Committee in their areas that will ensure administrative convenience and extension of democracy dividends to their people.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Barrister Emma Ibediro who said this at a meeting with the Transition Chairmen disclosed that the committee would foster development in the areas of Health, Market, Works and Environment.
Barrister Ibediro said already the Ministry was partnering with the Ministry of Health to ascertain the viability of Health Centres in the State and mobilize people in the areas to disseminate accurate information to the Public on health issues especially on Lassa fever, yellow fever, diarrhea, and other killer diseases.
He praised the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for the prompt payment of counterpart funds on Routine Immunization and other health programmes, as he encouraged Health workers in the State to remain dogged in combating the preventable killer diseases ravaging society.
Barrister Ibediro explained that the Committee on Market would ensure orderliness and cleanliness in rural markets, the works committee would handle the maintenance of rural roads and regular repairs of government facilities while the Environmental Committee would ensure the provision of toilet facilities as well as promote environmental sanitation of Council Headquarters and the surrounding Communities.
The Transition Committee Chairmen affirmed that the setting up of the four Communities was a welcome development in sustaining the good work of the Rescue Mission Administration and promised to give it immediate attention.
