The determination of the Shared Prosperity Government of Senator Hope Uzodinma to Industrialize Imo State and make it a hub of economic activities and job creation has received a major boost following the partnership between the Commissioner For Commerce and Industry Barr. Kingsley Ononuju and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring Okigwe Zone Engr. Francis Chukwu to resuscitate the abandoned Ezinnachi Clay Products Factory in Okigwe LGA of the state.
Speaking during the on the spot assessment of the project recently, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Barr. Kingsley Ononuju said that Governor Uzodinma directed him to conduct a fact finding assessment of the moribund industry with a view to revamping it in the shortest possible time.
He added that it was what prompted him to bring MICMOSON LTD that was doing business in the Clay Factory some 30 years ago when the industry was operational, stressing that the essence of the move was to get the industry back to work in order to gainfully employ the youths of the state.
In his speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring Okigwe Zone Engr. Francis Chukwu expressed delight at the goodwill of Governor Uzodinma towards the people of Okigwe Zone which has been further demonstrated in his effort to resuscitate the Moribund Industry and assured of his commitment to synergize with the Commissioner to actualize the revamping of the factory.
Engr. Chukwu noted that Governor Uzodinma has come to work for the state and called on the people of Okigwe Zone and Imo at large to be patient with the present administration. While urging the people to support the Shared Prosperity government of Governor Uzodinma, Engr. Chukwu expressed optimism that the state government will turn things around for better in Okigwe zone and Imo at large in no distant time.
It will be recalled that the Ezinachi Clay Products Factory was one of the landmark achievements of the first civilian Governor of old Imo State Late Chief Sam Mbakwe’s administration.
The Industry has been in existence but in comatose for over 30 years without the desired attention of successive governments to resuscitate it.
The visit attracted the IMC Chairman of Okigwe LGA Hon. Lady Nkechi Mbonu, the CEO of MICMOSON LTD Mike Muma. Others were: The Chairman Okigwe LGA council of Traditional Rulers Eze Acho Ndukwe, the President General of Amano Ezinachi Autonomous Community where the factory is located Nze Paschal Asiegbu, Barr. Golden Nwosu, Sir Charles Nwabuzor among others.
