The Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has set up an All Progressives Congress (APC) Peace and Reconciliation Committee for the South East and Imo State.
The essence of the committee is to ensure that peace is returned in the Party within the South East zone and in Imo in particular.
The South-East APC Peace and Reconciliation Committee is headed by Senator Emmanuel Agboti from Ebonyi State while the Imo State Committee is headed by Prince Macdonald Akano.
The Committees are expected to ensure that warring factions within the APC in the South East and in Imo are brought together.
In a release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, the Govenror disclosed that there would be a Mega Victory Rally in Owerri on Tuesday July 3, 2018 by APC members in the South East.
The governor said the rally which would be tagged South East for Buhari will have many governors in attendance with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as a representative of the President.
He further said that the idea of this rally is to promote the ideals of what President Buhari stands for, and to also ensure that Igbos are not left out again in National Politics and to rebuild all broken bridges with both the North and Western part of the country.
Owelle Okorocha gave an assurance that the leadership of the party under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole would look into the aborted Congresses in the State with the view to conducting fresh Congresses as soon as possible which would now stabilize the Party and get them ready for elections.
The governor explained that what is important now is to make the Party move forward both in the South-East and Imo in particular and warned that the Party will no longer condone any act of indiscipline, stealing of result sheets and carrying of ballot boxes which APC is not known for.
