Government says it is committed to the development of Ikeduru Local Government Area in line with the ongoing urban renewal policy.
The Commissioner for Internal Resources and Pension Affairs, Chief Achilike Nwawuike said this while addressing traders at Eke Atta Market before its demolition.
Chief Nwawuike who applauded the vision of the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha in rural urban development, especially in the construction of modern markets said when completed, both the market and the major road that transverses it would be a sign to behold.
He urged the traders and people of Ikeduru to sustain their support for the Rescue Mission Administration.
During the demolition, some indigenes of the Community, Mrs. Chinelo Nwoke, Nze Longinue Egejuru and Mr. Ifeanyi Chukwu commended the governor for choosing Eke Atta as one of the markets to be upgraded, adding that with the exercise the rate of according on the narrow accident prone Okigwe- Eke – Atta road would be reduced.
Another indigene of the Area Chief Obed Acho appealed for early completion of the project before the rain sets in.
