Meanwhile, the Police Command in Imo State has paraded five persons suspected to have allegedly sold a two month old baby.
The suspects who were paraded at the Police Command Headquarters in Owerri, include the father Mr. Ifeanyi Elijah, and mother Mrs. Immaculate Elijah who allegedly conspired with one Mrs. Amarach Obiekwe and sold the baby for N400, 000.
The father of the recovered baby girl, Mr. Ifeanyi Elijah, confessed to have sold the baby girl out of hunger and hardship while pleading for forgiveness.\the alleged buyer, Mrs. Amarachi Obiekwe agreed that she bought the baby from the parents at the sum of N400, 000 naira, adding that she needed a grandchild who would nurture her at old age.
In her narration, the mother of the little baby Mrs. Immaculate Elijah denied any involvement but the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem told newsmen that she conspired with her husband to sell the baby.
Other suspects involved in the child trafficking include Mrs. Grace Mezu and Mrs. Fidelia Ariri both from Imo State.
