The State Government has invested heavily in the health sector.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Barr. Emma Ibediro who said this expressed satisfaction with the proactive step taken by the health sector in synergizing with the local governments for the successful implementation of immunization programme in the state.
Barr Ibediro said this when a team of health personnel led by the Commissioner for health paid him a visit.
He urged them to continue in their selfless service to ensure a healthy citizenry while assuring them of adequate mobilization and participation from the local government areas during the forthcoming immunization exercise in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Angela Uwakwem stressed the need to sensitize people at the localities on the outbreak of lassa fever, yellow fever and diarrhea in the country.
She called for personal hygiene and maintenance of clean environment adding that the vaccine for yellow fever will soon be out and encouraged all to take it.
Dr. Uwakwem called on the Transition Committee Chairmen to help mobilize people at the grassroots to the maternal and child health week coming up soon. She further disclosed that immunization for measles for children between nine and fifty-nine months would commence next month.
In another development, the Commissioner for Local Government, Barr. Emma Ibediro has informed Transition Committee Chairmen of Governor Rochas Okorocha’s concern about the rural road projects and the setting of an inspection Committee to ensure their quick completion.
The Commissioner said the Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Centres in the local government areas will be commissioned soon as many of them have been equipped with computers and ready to start training.
He commended Local Government Areas like Ideato North, Ideato South, Nwangele, Orlu, Ngor Okpala, Onuimo, Ihitte Uboma, Obowo, Okigwe and Aboh Mbaise for jobs well done and encouraged them to promote clean and healthy environment.
The Commissioner reminded the TC Chairmen, the Vice Chairmen and Secretaries of their newly procured official vehicles ready for commissioning by the Governor.
