OVER 13 filling stations have been sealed off by the Department of Petroleum Resources, Niger State, for selling petroleum products above the official pump price.
The report said that the facilities were shut down for alleged hoarding, diversion of petroleum products and selling above the regulated price.
The state controller of DPR, Mr. Isa Jankara, disclosed to journalists in Minna on Sunday, that the stations were discovered to be dispensing fuel at between N205 and N250 per litre during an inspection visit.
He explained that some of the stations were also involved in other forms of sharp practices, adding that they have been sanctioned appropriately.
The DPR Controller said the affected stations were required to pay fines ranging from N100,000 to N600,000 based on the numbers of offending pumps.
He said the sealed stations’ operators must pay the fines to the DPR bank account before their stations would be reopened.
