The attention of the State Government has been drawn to extortion of money from developers by communities in the name of “Marching Ground”.
To this end government has condemned the unwholesome behavior, stressing that it will no longer fold its arms, and watch the ugly situation go on unchecked.
A release from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Imo state explains that government has only approved N200,000 for development levy in Urban Areas and N150,000 for rural areas.
It says such money will be paid to the host community Government Council, CGC.
The release therefore warns that henceforth any person or associations found extorting money under the gives of collecting “Marching Ground” will face the wrath of the law.
