The Nigeria Prisons Service is commended for keeping to its own side of the Memorandum of Understanding MOU, reached between it and the Okwu-Umuoma Nekede and Umuehieta Avu Communities both in Owerri West Local Government Area.The Nigeria Prisons Service is commended for keeping to its own side of the Memorandum of Understanding MOU, reached between it and the Okwu-Umuoma Nekede and Umuehieta Avu Communities both in Owerri West Local Government Area.The spokes person of the two communities and the president General of Okwu Umuoma Nekede, Mr. Okechukwu Opara said the communities were delighted over the decision of the Nigeria prison service to release to them statutory right of occupancy to both communities and assured them that the people of the areas would work hard to assist the Nigerian prisons establish it’s Headquarters and Estate on the said land.He said the memorandum of understanding reached has made the communities as well as families who are direct owners of the land not to be short changed in all the transactions and pledged to continue to cooperate with the Nigeria prison in the construction work on the land.Earlier the Assistant Comptroller General of Nigeria Prison ZONE “E” Mr. Alloy Uchenna applauded the communities and the families for ensuring peace through out the exercise and assured them that the Nigerian Prison Service would live up to the expectation by fulfilling all its promises as contained in their memorandum of understanding.He said the statutory right of occupancy given to the host communities was approved by the federal government through the federal ministry of Power, works and housing which is supervising the realization of the projects.
